Weddings are ideally a once in a lifetime event for anyone. Although some cultures and governments allow multiple marriages, there would still be the first time where the couples would not have any idea on how to go through it and create wonderful lasting memories of the day that their lives were bonded together with the blessing of the church and legality of the civil laws.
The very first thing that couples have to prepare for their wedding is the wedding stationery set. Although, the wedding stationery set can be as elaborate as they would like it to be, they also have the option not to include some items if they are on a modest budget.
One controversial item in the wedding stationery is the gift list. It is controversial because during older times, it is a taboo to ask for gifts. It is immodest and rude to oblige the guests and well-wishers to give the newlyweds gifts and much more so if the couple will specify which gifts they would like to get.

When do we setup the wedding gift list?
As with any detail involved in the wedding, the more time you have, the better. The earlier you decide to include it in your wedding stationery, the more time you have to prepare it. Remember that you should make this arrangement with stores and gift shops. Lessen the pressure of scrambling to have it finished and sent out with the invitations by doing it the last minute. For added convenience, the internet is now a rich source of information and medium for setting up the gift list.
Is there a fee involved?
Stores have different policies and ways of setting up your bridal registry. You can make a survey first and take advantage of special offers that stores often give to couples for special occasions like weddings. You should ask if the store would be in charge of sending out the list or if they would only give you the cards that you can put together with the whole wedding stationery set.
How long does it take to make the list?
It all depends on the couple and how meticulous they are in choosing the particular items that they want included. There are couples who would just readily check items on the list. And there are people who would spend days actually checking out the items in the store.
How do I know if somebody already purchased a specific item?
