lots of house stuff… it’s whatever you want or need. what we basically did was went around our house and thought of things that we would like for each room.

Let’s see…

silverware
apron

vacuum

Really? Ok!

His & Her Bath Robes
Towels (even if you have some they are useful)
Bed Sheets (again, still useful even if you have some)
Bathroom Scales
Fancy Cutlery Set (Strachan)
Bone China Crockery Set (Wedgewood)
Crystal Glasses Set (Waterford)
Crystal Cake Stand
Tupperware Cake Carrier/Container
Bowls & Platters (Crystal and China, etc)
Rice Cooker
Slow Cooker
Sandwich Toaster Press
Dutch Oven (a high temp pot that you can use in the oven or on the stove)
Oil & Vinegar Pourer
Quiche/Flan Dish
Ramekins (of different sizes – for creme brulees and personal pies, etc)
Wooden Chopping Boards (various sizes)
Monopoly
Scrabble

I like to warn people though about adding things that you DO NOT want to receive. For example, we got wine glasses for both our engagement and wedding and ended up receiving over 50 glasses all in different styles! My hubby and I said nothing about what we didn’t need and people who didn’t chose off our list decided they would get wine glasses. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the gifts, but really – 50+ wine glasses?!

Register for whatever you really want or need, and register at more than one place. I would pick JC Penney, because they have a nice linen department, and probably Walmart. A friend’s daughter is getting married, and she picked
Target. I would also pick something higher end, like Macy’s or Saks, especially if you are asking for silverware, crystal, or china.
Pick a wide price range of things, people buy several small things, or a bigger large one. And a lot of people have favorite items that they buy for every wedding. One of my favorites is a 13×9 glass baking dish, that comes with a basket to set it in. I use it all the time. My Corning ware large casserole gets used a lot, so does my Pyrex loaf pan.
I would go for practical, really needed stuff, and a few pretty decorative things, to appeal to everyone and every budget.
Practical cookware and bakeware, and pick name brands like Pyrex or Corning.Or like a selection of Teflon skillets. Small appliances like a crockpot[ask for the kind that sits on a base], a coffee maker. Everyday dishes and glassware and flatware. Cookbooks, a vacuum, kitchen linens, even gadgets like measure cups, heat proof spatulas. Nice candlesticks would be a the top of my list, a kitchen timer, maybe a clock [fancy or useful].
My friend told me you can register for gift cards. If that’s what you want, go for it.
And at the places like Walmart and Target, you can get the most expensive parts of setting up a household, and use the gift certificates. My first household was an apartment, and if the rent and deposit were not enough to spend, buying all the chemicals and brooms and mops to clean it with, and all the soap, and laundry stuff, it cost a fortune. A few gift certificates would make a big dent in that bill. Or put the gift certificates on something big, like if you just have to have the kitchen furniture by Martha Stewart at k-mart.
And put a few higher ticket items on the list, too, for rich old Aunt Mabel, and the parents. A really good stand mixer, like an Artisan, would have thrilled me. A reasonably sized tv would be ok, a breadmaker.
A nice thing to do, especially if you are guiding people into thinking about giving you money, is to tell people what you plan to do with it. Name something broad, not too specific. Say things like oh,my we don’t have any furniture yet, we are putting cash gifts on that. Or, we are saving for a house, the money will go there.
Hope this helps, congrats!
