Wedding Planning Checklist for a Beach Theme Wedding
Posted: Jan 19, 2011 |Comments: 0

]]>
Here is a wedding planning count down checklist. This is a general checklist and it will help with your planning of your beach theme wedding, but you will want to flesh it out a bit by adding the extra items pertinent to a beach or destination wedding. You will get the extra needed information from purchasing one of the wedding planners that I mentioned in my last article about wedding planning where they mention added things you need to know about planning a beach theme wedding. You can add these items to your planning checklist so that you will not forget important things to do. You’ll definitely want to include what to do about the marriage license if you will be having an out of the country wedding. This will make planning a beach theme or destination wedding so much easier! So then, here is the basic wedding planning checklist.
9-12 months before the wedding:
Announce your engagement to friends and family.
Pick your wedding date.( If you will be having your wedding at your local beach, make sure of all the rules and reserve and if you want a out of country destination wedding , check and reserve before setting your wedding date in stone.)
Arrange for parents to get together and meet each other if they haven’t already.
Discuss what your budget will be and who’ll be contributing what to the event.
Interview wedding planners if you’re using one. (Or use one of my recommendations from my previous post on wedding planning like Amazing Wedding planning- great for info on destination and beach theme weddings.)
Meet with the officiant.
Work on the guest list to get a rough head count.
Visit reception sites and reserve one. (This will be hard to do if this will be an out of the country destination wedding. You might want to actually go visit the island of choice and take care of some of these things at this time, then the rest can be done from home.)
Begin shopping for your wedding gown. If you want to drop a few pounds this would be the time to start.
For an out of country destination wedding this is the time to start checking into the details of your marriage license.
6-9 months before the wedding:
Choose the members of your wedding party.
Select a caterer. (This might be included in your destination site, so check)
Enroll in a bridal registry.
Order your wedding gown.
Shop for bridesmaids dresses.
Pick a photographer and videographer.
Hire a florist (or look into do-it-yourself flower arranging DVDs on my site and practice also wholesale flowers)
Start thinking about where you’d like to go for your honeymoon.
Send out save-the-date cards, especially if your wedding is on a holiday weekend. (check my post on wedding invitations for some great beach theme wedding invitations and save the dates.)
4-6 months before the wedding:
Order wedding stationary (place cards, thank you cards, etc.).
Shop for the perfect wedding cake. (this could be tricky if you want a special wedding cake and you will be having a beach theme or especially an out of country destination wedding, so check out Amazing Wedding Planning for help with this)
Hire your wedding-day transportation (carriage, limousine, etc.)
Book your favorite hair stylist and makeup artist. (special planning for a destination wedding)
Check on hotels for any out-of-town guests.
Finalize the guest list.
Get definite plans for your honeymoon, make airline and hotel arrangements.
Plan the rehearsal dinner. (Special planning for a out of country destination wedding)
Compile a list of all your wedding vendors, their phone numbers, the details and keep a list with you at all times for reference.(I would make two lists and give one to someone else like mother or maid of honor-someone who can help with the details if needed and so that if you were to loose your list, there will be another one handy.)
2-4 months before the wedding:
Purchase the marriage license from your cities county clerk.( I already commented on this earlier, you’ll need to plan this much earlier for an out of country wedding, making sure that it will all be legal)
Order tuxedos for the groom and groomsmen.
Meet with the caterer to go over menus, wine selections, etc. (or for a destination wedding, you’ll need to communicate by email)
Order the wedding cake.
Select wedding ceremony and reception music.
If you plan on writing your own vows start writing them now.
4-8 weeks before the wedding:
Mail wedding invitations 6 to 8 weeks ahead of your wedding date.( probably more time needed to give guests extra time to plan or make special note of it in your save the dates)
Do a hair and make up run through with your wedding veil on.
2-4 weeks before the wedding:
Work on the seating arrangements for the reception.
Confirm details with the photographer, florist, and other vendors.
Have your final wedding dress fitting.
Write your rehearsal-dinner toast.
Purchase gifts for the wedding attendants.
1 week before the wedding:
Place any amounts due on the wedding day in envelopes for easy distribution.
Give the caterer a final head count.
Find a trustworthy person to take the cake knife, toasting glasses, etc. to the reception.
Get final beauty treatments (manicure, facial, massage, waxing, brow shaping, etc.).
Pack for the honeymoon.
The day before the wedding:
Get something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in the shoe(a penny will do).
The day of the wedding:
Relax and remain calm.
Remember to eat something. You may be so busy with things that you forget or just not get the time once you are in the midst of your reception.
Allow yourself at least two hours to get dressed.
Enjoy your dream beach theme or destination wedding.
So as you can see, this is a general checklist and there are many extra things to be considered for a beach theme or destination wedding, especially if it will be out of the country. May you have many wonderful experiences on planning your dream beach wedding.

Folks these days are generally thinking, does wedding social manners even now exist within our period where each and every principle which any person can think of could possibly be bent? Within this law defying age, this seems that it really is merely a thing in the past. But, is marriage ceremony etiquette seriously now merely a portion of the historical past?

Country Church Weddings

If you have always dreamed about getting married in a small country church, you should take a look at the churches that dot the English countryside to see if one of them will allow you to have your ceremony in the church.
Most churches require that you are a member of the parish in order to perform a ceremony such as a wedding ceremony. However, many churches will allow you to join their parish even if you do not live in the area. If you grew up in the area or know someone who lives in the area, this often helps.
Small country churches can be the ideal venue for your country wedding ceremony. Many couples prefer smaller churches over the larger churches because they offer more intimacy and charm.
A great many couples in England are getting married with a civil ceremony instead of a church ceremony. In addition, church attendance in the country has dropped dramatically in the past 50 years. Many churches are suffering economically because of the drop in church membership. Some will be happy to perform your wedding ceremony in exchange for a donation to the church.
If you are dreaming of a church wedding and are looking for a small country church in which to have your wedding, you should consider discussing this matter with the church official. You can ring them and ask to meet with them to discuss the possibility of having your wedding in their parish. Many church officials will honor such a request and take it as a compliment to their church that you have chosen it to be the place of ceremony for your big day. While others may insist that you must be a member of the parish, some will allow you to register so that you can get married in their church.
If you do get to choose the small country church of your dreams for your wedding ceremony, you must then take a look at surrounding venues where you can host the wedding dinner or cocktail reception after. Once you have the church date set for the wedding, you can then start to make plans for your small and intimate wedding.
Be mindful of the rules of the church regarding the service, attire or flower decorations. You should understand the ceremony and discuss any concerns with the Vicar or church official prior to confirming the date. If you are of another denomination, you may need to convert to the religion in order to have the church perform the service. Be sure that this is something that both of you want to do.

Great Ideas for Wedding Gifts if You Did Not Attend the Wedding

If you must decline a wedding invitation from someone who is dear to you, you’ll want to give an excellent gift that both underscores your feelings for the recipients and serves as something that will remind them of you for years to come. Here is a list of the best wedding gifts to give if you cannot attend the wedding:
1. Money
Believe it or not, money is the best gift to give a new couple, whether or not you attend the ceremony. This is agreed upon by married couples, engaged couples, and those who write the rules of etiquette for things like weddings. People who are just starting out together need big things. Your wedding couple might need money to buy a new house or car. The thing they most need to start a new life together might be to pay down past debts or pay off school loans. Giving the gift of money is traditional for a reason. It gives the bridal couple the choice of how to spend it, and that ensures they will get exactly what they want most as a gift from you.
2. An item from their registry
Many people bypass the wedding registry when trying to decide on a gift for the bridal couple. Maybe they want their gift to be seen as more creative and heartfelt than something that might be on a list. The problem with this is if you buy something that isn’t on the registry list, you run the risk of getting the couple something they do not want, have no use for, or already own. The wedding couple registered for things they needed. If you cannot be there to watch them walk down the aisle, you can at least give them something you know they will use.
3. The gift of a memory
Buying picture frames and engraved wedding goblets is popular because there is a desire to give the couple a gift that will remind them of their wedding day. These ideas could use some creative twists. One way to do this is to buy the couple a bottle of fine wine or aged scotch engraved or labeled with their names and the wedding date, coupled with instructions to enjoy on their first, fifth, or tenth wedding anniversary. Another gift in this theme is to commission a portrait of the two of them. Select a portrait artist and send them photographs of the couple, both posed and candid. Your wedding couple will enjoy the resulting painting for years to come.
4. The gift of an original
This is a category you don’t want to go crazy with, but which can produce really nice gifts if done right. The wedding couple probably doesn’t want a set of handmade macrame plant holders, but a carefully-selected handmade, antique, or heirloom can be an excellent wedding gift. These gifts will truly show that you have put thought into the gift and will remind the couple of you whenever they see it. Works of art, a wedding ring quilt, handmade wooden furniture, and antique silver all fall into this category.
5. The gift of a honeymoon
Find out if the wedding couple has registered at a honeymoon registry. This is a service that allows guests to gift the couple with dollars toward a vacation or toward specific items they might enjoy on a honeymoon, such as dinner, massages, drinks, or adventures. These gifts are truly memorable because they allow the couple to make the kinds of memories together they may never have a chance at again.
Sometimes life prevents us from being present to witness the marriage of those we care about. Sending a gift from one of these categories, along with a personal message of care and well wishes, will show the wedding couple how much they mean to you and contribute to the gift of their togetherness for many years to come.

12 months before your Wedding day:

How To Write Wedding Invitations
You should order invitations only when you have confirmation from your wedding and reception sites. Note the time of the reception on the receptions cards in the event of an extended lag in time between the wedding and reception beyond the normal transit time needed between sites.

On Having the Perfect Wedding
Everyone loves a wedding, especially a perfect and smooth wedding where every event from the engagement to the actual wedding, the reception and the honeymoon occurs like clockwork and to surgical precision. So, when you plan a wedding whether it’s your own or that of someone dear to you, a perfect wedding without a single glitch is what you would surely like. However, there is a big catch and that is the existence of far too many imponderables! You have to send the invitations out and fix the wedding venue. The caterers have to be fixed in advance and so will you need to book the DJs and the guys who do the fireworks and special effects. You’ll end up with a headache trying to do the above along with ordering the wedding cakes, the wedding dresses and the wedding flowers all at the same time. Then there’s the bridal registry to be attended to and the hair and make up people to be contacted. Not only are there too many loose ends to be tied up but also each item is far too important and you can ignore it only at your peril! It’s a much better idea under these circumstances to leave all the arrangements to the guys who are professionals in this field, the Wedding Celebrants Australia.

The Proper Wedding Etiquette For Brides
Whether we admit it or don’t Wedding Etiquette is still an important issue to many of us. Don’t you hear yourself complaining for some weddings that you have attended? Maybe you have heard some friends who have attended a wedding ceremony and learning after the rites that he or she was not invited for the wedding reception.
Although it is acceptable and is within the Wedding Etiquette standard to invite some guests only at the wedding reception and some only at the wedding reception, the guests should be informed of this fact before hand. These instances want us to shout: Learn some manners!
For brides out there who are getting married next year, it will be for your own good if you would buy Emily Post’s book on Wedding Etiquette. It will teach you the Wedding Etiquette basics and Wedding Etiquette blunders. Knowing what violates and follows Wedding Etiquette will help you go through your big day, hassle and stress free.
– Basic Wedding Etiquette for Brides
On what to wear.
Modern Wedding Etiquette allows brides to wear any design that she want in any color. Brides are not anymore limited to wearing ultra white wedding dress with sleeves. They may wear a tube, halter or spaghetti strapped wedding dress in creme, beige or pastel colors.
But for the sake of Wedding Etiquette, she should also consider her cultural background and her church’s dress requirement. If your church requires you to wear a shawl over a tube wedding dress, then you must do so.
If the minister or priest thinks that your red wedding dress is unappropriate for the church and ask you to replace your ,000 designer wedding dress for a white wedding dress, then you should take it off and buy a white ready-to-wear wedding gown at Macy’s.
On who to invite.
It is a basic Wedding Etiquette for a bride to talk to her groom on who and who are not to invite. Remember that the is the two of you who will get married, not only you. It will be a violation of Wedding Etiquette if you will invite persons your groom do not want to get invited or do not want to see, such as your old flame or his old boss that he had an argument eventhough you are in speaking terms with his old boss. It is not just about Wedding Etiquette, it is in fact about the issue of respect.
If it is your second marriage, you should not invite your ex-spouse or your ex-parents-in-law. Even if you are in good terms with your ex, Wedding Etiquette dictates that you should not invite them. This is to avoid unnessary confrontations or wedding drama. Your guest will also feel uncomfortable around your ex.
But there is an exception to this Wedding Etiquette. If your children to your ex-spouse has requested for the presence of their father, then you should talk about it with your groom. If he agrees, then invite your ex to your wedding. But there is an alternative to this, however.
You can invite your guest for a dinner at your home after your wedding or honeymoon. This private dinner is more quiet and will save you the trouble of explaining to your father and mother and other close guests why your ex-husband is in your wedding.
On gift giving and registry.
It is a big Wedding Etiquette no-no to ask for cash gifts from your guests. Although it is a reality that newlyweds need cash as a startup money since they need to rent a bigger place or buy new appliances that the two of them needs, you don’t want to look like a greedy bride for asking for some cash.
Let them decide what to give. If they have decided to give you cash, then say your thanks. But don’t ever ask them to fund a mortgage or fund a charity that you will establish as a wedding gift.
Registry card is acceptable although modern Wedding Etiquette objects to insertion of the registry card in the invitation. Wedding Etiquette specialists say that brides should put up an online registry card and inform your guests through your invitation that you have an online registry and they may want to look it up in case they would decide to buy you gifts from your registry.

Newlyweds Destination Wedding Etiquette
One of the most exciting things to happen in a person’s life is the wedding. Planning for a destination wedding will take a lot of work but the rewards can be worth it. The first destination wedding etiquette is to consider who can attend the wedding location.
Out of town weddings are preferred by couples as a way to lessen the number of guests at the events. Sometimes, when the budget is concerned the destination wedding etiquette is to set aside money for accommodations and transportation for the immediate members of the family and entourage.
For the couple:
A destination wedding can be a fulfillment of their fantasy. When looking for the best place to celebrate, look for these qualities:
· Accessibility – the hotel and church or wedding location should be near the reception area. This is a destination wedding etiquette in consideration for the family and guests who need to freshen up before the reception.
· Package – there are hotels or resorts that offer wedding packages. These are discounted rates for a group bookings. Other may include the transportation. It is a destination wedding etiquette to make sure everything is taken cared of.
· Price – destination weddings can still be costly, especially if there is a theme involved. However, the destination wedding etiquette regarding the expenses are sorted out between the bride and groom.
The destination wedding requirements:
Pushing through with an out of town wedding can be demanding on the part of the couple. The destination wedding etiquette is to make sure everything is in order prior to the wedding date itself. Here are a few reminders:
· Check if your wedding location requires other legal documents to process the wedding. The destination wedding etiquette is to arrange the papers beforehand.
· Is there a residency requirement? If so, the destination wedding etiquette is to confirm the number of days required for the couple to stay in that location to make their union legal.
· Medical tests for both parties should be taken. If the couple arrived a few days earlier to the destination, they are open to the risk of getting a disease. It is destination wedding etiquette to have themselves checked out by doctors just to be on the safe side.
· Book everything in advance. Making the proper reservations for the hotel, flowers, gowns, music, etc is a sign of prudent planning and a destination wedding etiquette must.
For the guests:
The destination wedding etiquette dictates that you must bring a gift for the newlyweds. A bridal registry is usually set-up for the convenience of the couple and the guests. If the couple’s asks for money instead of a gift, discretely give your envelope to the family of the bride or groom. The key word here is discrete. It would be breaking the destination wedding etiquette code if one grandstands and announces their contribution.
Usually the invitation allows for at least one companion to the wedding. In tagging along more than one companion, consider the destination wedding etiquette of informing the couple beforehand. This will make it easier for them to estimate the total number of plated for the reception.
Bringing along the children is fine for any destination wedding. But as much as possible, keep the event as civilized as possible. The kids will only add to the stress at a wedding and the destination wedding etiquette is to keep the number of children down to a minimum.
Guests can turn the out of town wedding into a mini-vacation just by spending their time together at the venue. However, it is essential destination wedding etiquette to put the couple’s day first before going off on your own romantic weekend.
If the destination wedding is unfamiliar to you it is wise to do some research. Not only will you be able to discover a new place but also you can really enjoy your mini-vacation by visiting the tourists’ spots. Remember, the destination wedding etiquette is to indulge on this only after the wedding event.
For the family:
Both the bride and groom’s family are an important part of the wedding. It is a destination wedding etiquette that they all try to help make this event go as smoothly as possible.
The couple can delegate their wedding tasks to the family to lessen the pressure on the celebrants. It is only natural that the family steps forward and take in as much responsibility as the can as a destination wedding etiquette.
When all the hard work pays off at the wedding, the newlyweds will appreciate everyone for making this the most memorable destination wedding of their lives.

Ideas For Your Totally ?Green?, Earth-Friendly Wedding
If you are an environment conscience bride, you may be consider a way to have your wedding be completely eco-friendly or you may just be looking for some ideas to help you and your guest produce less waste therefore lessening your carbon footprint. Well then this is the article for you! Here are some great ideas to make your wedding not only beautiful, but also a little kinder to mother earth.
Biodegradable, 100% recycled, or tree-free wedding invitations are definitely the way to go. You can find lots of beautiful and modern styles available in these forms from several stationery suppliers, so you may consider using one of them to set the tone for your earth-friendly day. Another great idea is to create your own wedding website. This is a great place for guests to RSVP and find out all the information they need like ceremony and reception locations, wedding registries, etc. without you having to use a lot of extra paper in your invitations to get the information out. You may also consider using a popular avenue like Facebook or MySpace to invite some of your guests. This will eliminate the needs for a lot of paper invitations, and some of your more tech-savvy friends may respond better to an Internet invite than a paper invite.
When choosing eco-minded favors to give your guests you may want to consider sending your guests home with a tree of your choice that they can plant, or maybe you can send your guests home with little seed packets of your favorite flowers or plants. You can also look into purchasing place card for your reception that can be taken home and planted because they are made out of seeds and biodegradable materials. Another great idea is to make a donation to a charity in honor of your guests and make a little note at the bottom of your ceremony programs or your reception menus.
When it comes to flowers, most brides don’t want to sacrifice because flowers are usually a huge part of every bride’s day. Well don’t worry; you can still be eco-conscience without the sacrifice. You could consider purchasing your flowers from a local florist that grows his/her own products or get their products from a local, organically grown garden as a great, earth friendly choice. If your really daring and you have some time, you might consider planting your own bulbs and growing your own flowers or you can choose you use biodegradable silk flowers, maybe even a combination of the two to get the full floral effect you are seeking.
If you want to take your eco-friendliness to the next level, you may consider purchasing a once worn, previously owned wedding gown. Ebay is full of them, and you might be able to find one you like at your local thrift store. Another great idea is to consider buying your gown from a foundation like Brides Against Breast Cancer, which donates the proceeds to help women with breast cancer. If you decide to buy a new dress, you may consider donating it a foundation like this when you are done. Brides Against Breast Cancer gives wedding dresses to women in an effort to fulfill their wishes to have a wedding day.
When it comes to the food for your reception you may consider donating the leftovers to a local soup kitchen instead of just getting rid of them. You may also consider having all the decorations on your cake to be completely edible and you will want to use biodegradable place setting or fine, reusable place settings to eliminate waste. You should even provide recycle bins for cans and glass containers used for soda and liquor.
There are lots of others way to be eco-friendly on your wedding day, and all you have to do is do your research and patronize venders that use earth-friendly products and who are committed to make your “green” wedding a success. Don’t be afraid to get creative and let your guests know what you are doing. By publicizing your desire to “go green”, you may be encouraging other up and coming brides to do the same thing.
