Planning a Summer Wedding? Important Considerations for Brides to Be

Planning the wedding of your dreams can be a monumental task in itself. It won’t take long before you realize why “wedding planner” is a full time job description. If you’re getting ready to embark on the long journey of planning your own summer wedding, or if you’ve simply got some prospective suitors waiting in the wings, this quick checklist can help give you an idea of the many details brides and grooms to be have got to tackle before the big day.
The Wedding Gown
One of the first things many future brides do right after getting engaged is shop for the wedding gown. Getting an early start is a very good idea, as special ordering and alteration—not to mention the difficult process of choosing a gown—can take a considerable amount of time.
A common trend in wedding gown selection today also finds brides setting a specific fitness or weight loss goal before the ceremony is set to take place. In any case, allowing six months to a year between the time you choose your dress and your actual wedding date should give you plenty of time to handle any unforeseen problems that may arise.
Bridal Party Gowns
Like the wedding gown, it can take a long time to make a final decision on bridal party attire. In many contemporary weddings, brides have forgone the tradition that bridesmaid gown must be perfectly uniform. The wide range of coordinating gowns on the market today makes it simple to leave the decision of cut and style up to the bridesmaids themselves.
However, it’s also a good idea to give your bridal party members a few parameters to stay within as they pick out their outfits. Assign a very specific color early on, at least six months before the ceremony, as well as any preferences you have concerning formality or cut to help guide your attendants’ choices. The mother of the bride dress can vary from bridesmaid attire, but should match closely in color.
Invitations
Invitations are one of the earliest official indications of your wedding and should accordingly be taken care of well ahead of the actual date. Invitations should actually be mailed out about 8 full weeks before the date of the wedding, allowing plenty of time for travel arrangements and RSVPs. Destination weddings should add considerably more time, depending on location and travel needs.
Announcements
Wedding announcements are different from invitations in that they are meant to provide an official notice of your wedding just after it has taken place. Announcements are designed for friends, colleagues and acquaintances who didn’t quite make it onto the final guest list. Announcements should be sent out on the wedding day itself, give or take a day or two.
Wedding Transportation
One of those small but very important details many happy couples tend to forget about when planning their wedding is special transportation. Whether you plan to rent a single limo for the bride and groom or several to transport the whole wedding party, it’s a good idea to book well ahead of schedule. Spring and summer weddings are the most popular, so you should book a limo 6 to 9 months ahead of time. Your choice of vehicles can usually be secured with a contract and deposit.
The Photographer
As with many other book-ahead considerations, a spring or summertime wedding will mean you’re competing with hundreds of other couples for a few precious resources. It’s not too early to set up a deal with a photographer up to a full year before your ceremony is set to take place.
In most cases, the best photographers will be snatched up first, so don’t be afraid to inquire about booking in advance if a particular professional or agency catches your eye. This rule can apply to many other aspects of the ceremony as well, including DJs, bands, catering companies and equipment rental.
Gift Registry
Setting up a gift registry for your wedding can be a time consuming process itself, but good etiquette involves waiting about 3 or 4 months before the ceremony itself. There are also practical reasons for waiting a bit, since many stores overhaul much of their merchandise after a season has passed, while the vast majority of gifts won’t be purchased until a few days before the wedding or shower.
Planning a wedding is a truly herculean task and you shouldn’t hesitate to seek a bit of professional help. A good wedding planner can be worth his or her weight in gold, but remember that their time will be competed for as well. If you choose to go it alone, let your family lend a hand and take advantage of the tomes of advice circulating on the internet. After all, you can never have too much information when planning your special day.

Some Things You Need to Know About Wedding Gifts
Posted: Oct 23, 2010 |Comments: 0

There are still some questions raised, about giving wedding gifts, here are most of them. A wedding invitation arrives and with it is information of the store and their wish list in bridal registry, where the couple listed gifts that they would like to receive. What shall the guest do if they are not planning to attend the wedding?
If you do not plan to attend the wedding celebration, it’s ok not to buy gifts, but it will be nice, if you send one , whether you’re attending or not.
If you receive a wedding invitation with the couple’s bridal registry wish list, it doesn’t mean that you need to buy the wedding gifts listed there. Although it would be a favor for the couple to get what they wished for it doesn’t mean that your gift is not as valuable to them.
Helping the couple out by buying wedding gifts that they can use for the wedding celebration like, providing for the wedding cake, floral arrangements, wedding souvenirs, wedding cufflinks and so on. Is equally welcome and will be cherished by the couple.
Choosing a memorable wedding gift can be hard sometimes but there are a lot of options on how you can achieve it. One of them is personalizing your gift, you can choose to put the bride and grooms name and the date of celebration on the gift itself like the , Cake Servers, Unity Candles, Toasting Flutes, a pair of pens, hankies , ring bearer pillow, cake tops, wedding cufflinks etc. But this is not meant as a surprise wedding gift, you need to consult the couple if they have already provided for this, otherwise the gift will be useless on the wedding day. So it would be better if you ask them or let them choose the items themselves.
Regarding online shopping, it would be the easiest and most convenient way to choose a gift for the bride and the groom. There are thousands of possible wedding gifts ideas that can be seen online. Plus you will have a lot of time to think things over before doing the actual purchase. The bride and the groom can actually participate on this if you want them too.
Bringing the wedding gift in the wedding venue is not recommended, first of all, it is not secured and the couple or their family doesn’t have any time to spare in making the gifts secure. So sending the wedding gift to the couple’s residence is recommended. If a couple plans to give each other a wedding gift, this should be given after they are presented as a couple and before lighting the unity candle.
There couples who wants to give something special to their respective children in the blended family setting. It would make them feel special if you welcoming them is a part of the wedding program. It would make the occasion special.

Committing to Love and the Earth: a Guide to Green Weddings

Over the next twelve months, roughly 2.4 million Americans will spend 70 billion dollars (US) getting married. Green and socially responsible weddings can have a huge impact for the better on local economies and ecologies. Here are ten ways to express your commitment to the interconnectedness of life on earth during your wedding day.
1. Eco Engagement Rings and Eco Wedding Rings
It can take up to twenty tons of rock to produce a single wedding ring, yet there is more than enough gold available now for the entire jewelry industry. Some jewelers offer rings that are made from recycled gold. The ethical jeweler who has committed to using recycled gold will more than likely have a selection of conflict free diamonds or other gemstones that are responsibly sourced. Start your search locally, but realize that ethical wedding rings have not reached the mainstream yet and may be difficult to find.
Here are several online ethical jewelers, arranged by price range, for your consideration:
low-mid price range
high price range
Here is a guide to buying green wedding rings.
http://www.articles-collections.com/culture-and-society/consumer/ten-tips-to-purchasing-green-ethically-sourced-wedding-rings-online.html
2. Greening Your Guests
Consider reducing the numbers of people who have to travel for your wedding. This is NOT easy, but then again neither is a commitment to the earth, much less to your spouse-to-be. If you decide to have a larger wedding with many guests coming in from out of town, consider donating some money to an organization that offsets the carbon imprint of the travel.
Here is a wedding carbon dioxide offset calculator:
http://www.terrapass.com/wedding/index.html
Here are some US companies that offset carbon emissions:
TerraPass
http://www.terrapass.com/
Native Energy
http://www.nativeenergy.com/
MyClimate
http://www.myclimate.org/index.php?lang=en
3. Greening Your Invitations
Another reason that reducing your number of guests is significant is that you will also reduce the amount of paper required for printing. There are often save the date announcements, actual invitations, wedding handouts for each guest and then all the thank you letters. Be sure you’re using recycled paper or – if you can – use email as much as possible.
Here are some great sources for recycled paper:
Twisted Limb Paper – 100% Recycled Invitations

Invite Site – Eco Invites
http://www.invitesite.com/
Green Field Paper – non-tree paper, 100% recycled paper

4. Your Green Venue
The marriage should take place somewhere that is beautiful, inspirational and resonant with your green values. Look locally for meeting houses, farms, retreat centers, community gardens, parks or a building that supports a cause you believe in. Further, make the location central to the majority of your guests. If possible, consider having two ceremonies if you have large groups of guests at opposite ends of the country.
If you choose an indoor location, talk with the building managers about the energy efficiency of their facilities. If they are working to meet LEED standards for high-efficency buildings then you’re in good shape. Ideally the place will have outdoor and indoor space, allowing for different weather contingencies. Try to choose your venue as far in advance as possible; the best places book up quickly.

5. Your Food and Drink
A wedding is – for the majority of the attendants – a great big party. Buy organic food that is, if possible, locally grown. There are now excellent organic, and often locally produced, wines and beers. Food can be one of the most expensive parts of a wedding, but this is part of your gifting to the community that witnesses your vows. If you can’t afford an entirely organic menu, then consider going with organic meat, or choose a vegetarian option. Another idea is to ask friends to help prepare the feast.

6. Green Wedding Clothing
To purchase dress that will only be worn on one occasion for the wedding ceremony does not make a lot of sense. Purchase clothing that you will enjoy wearing on special occasions after the wedding. Organic fabrics are still limited, but you can choose to purchase clothing that is not made in a sweat shop. You can also rent your outfit or buy something that was worn by someone else once or twice.

7. Gifting And Being Gifted
The experience of gifting and being gifted is an integral part of any wedding ceremony. You can decide to make your party favors environmentally responsible products. Look for locally made regional products that visitors from out of town might appreciate. People want to gift the bride and groom. Everyone wants their gift to be appreciated. So it is best to open a Green Gift Registry. Those who feel as if they have everything they need may want to ask that, instead of gifts, money be donated to a particular environmental organization.

8. Dishes, Recycling and Redistributing
It is more environmentally sound to rent your dishes and glasses instead of simply using disposable paper products. Ask your caterer to use earth friendly soaps when cleaning up. Also, make sure that you have bins for recycling all aluminum and glass products. Look in advance for a food depot or soup kitchen that can take the left over food and distribute it.

9. Support Your Local Economy
Purchase locally from small businesses whenever possible. Buy local and organic flowers, which reduces transportation and pesticide impact on the environment. Or consider growing your own! Hire a local band or DJ who does not have to travel far to your venue.
10. Your Green Vows
This is the most important part of your wedding ceremony and it needs to be deeply considered. Spend some months and meditate on what is in your heart and what you can commit to. Write it out. Talk to friends who have been married a while. Include life affirming commitment to living in balance with the ecology. I was married by an Apache Medicine Woman, and she had us publicly state what my wife and I brought to the marriage-our good qualities and our flaws. For my wife and I, this exercise in front of our friends and family was a powerful expression of our humanity. Your vows are also your opportunity to spread the idea of eco-friendly values to your guests.
11. A Green Honeymoon
You will want to go to a place in nature that can restore and inspire you. Many people are familiar with ecotourism, yet know nothing about geotourism. The Geotourists has opportunities to improve the places that they visit and have meaningful experiences of local culture.

A key factor for a successful jewelry business is to know a lot about the pieces you sell, including the way in which they were created and the history behind the materials used. Solar Ovens – Save More Than Money
Sun cooking with solar ovens & cookers is an energy-saving, energy efficient, pollution-free way to do your share in reducing the effects of “global warming” and “climate change” taking advantage of the creations greatest source of in-exhaustible energy. As the world’s population increases and nonrenewable sources of energy (forests) for cooking dwindle at a rate of 1 acre per second and seriously damage the ozone layer through the burning of coal, we need to switch to renewable energy sources.

“In the time it takes most people to read this sentence, the world will have used up (forever) about 8,000 barrels of oil – 336,000 gallons; at 1000 barrels per second, it’s going fast. We spend more than 0,000 per minute – million per hour – on foreign oil, and more than billion a year on Persian Gulf imports alone.” The main reason sun oven cooking has not become popular yet is that Americans have always taken its source of gas and electric for granted because it has been plentiful.

Solar Ovens – Chocolate Chip Cookies Are Healthy
Our environment can have as much impact on our health as food and water. Smoking four packs of cigarettes a day can totally negate the healthful benefits of a steady diet consisting of organic vegetables, meats, fish, grains and dairy products. Experts say that by breathing the smoke from cooking with a wood fire two meals per day is the equivalent of smoking two to three packs of cigarettes per day. Sun ovens cook with the power of sunlight, releasing no harmful polluting by-products.

If you have not heard of solar or sun cooking and baking, you are in for a pleasant surprise. Cooking with the sun has been around for quite some time. The first documented research and successful results of solar cooking or baking was in 1767 by a French-Swiss physicist, Horace de Saussure. It was not until the past decade that a more concerted effort has been made to develop an oven/cooker that would effectively utilize the energy of the sun for this purpose.

Consider this: If half the world’s population cooks with carbon-based fuel (three billion people), with ten people using each cooking fire, there are one hundred million cooking fires per meal. Each cooking fire produces as much carbon pollution as an automobile. Had all of these people used renewable energy sources for cooking rather than wood, the resulting positive effect on the environment would be the same as removing one hundred million automobiles from the equation.

Great Ideas for Wedding Gifts if You Did Not Attend the Wedding

If you must decline a wedding invitation from someone who is dear to you, you’ll want to give an excellent gift that both underscores your feelings for the recipients and serves as something that will remind them of you for years to come. Here is a list of the best wedding gifts to give if you cannot attend the wedding:
1. Money
Believe it or not, money is the best gift to give a new couple, whether or not you attend the ceremony. This is agreed upon by married couples, engaged couples, and those who write the rules of etiquette for things like weddings. People who are just starting out together need big things. Your wedding couple might need money to buy a new house or car. The thing they most need to start a new life together might be to pay down past debts or pay off school loans. Giving the gift of money is traditional for a reason. It gives the bridal couple the choice of how to spend it, and that ensures they will get exactly what they want most as a gift from you.
2. An item from their registry
Many people bypass the wedding registry when trying to decide on a gift for the bridal couple. Maybe they want their gift to be seen as more creative and heartfelt than something that might be on a list. The problem with this is if you buy something that isn’t on the registry list, you run the risk of getting the couple something they do not want, have no use for, or already own. The wedding couple registered for things they needed. If you cannot be there to watch them walk down the aisle, you can at least give them something you know they will use.
3. The gift of a memory
Buying picture frames and engraved wedding goblets is popular because there is a desire to give the couple a gift that will remind them of their wedding day. These ideas could use some creative twists. One way to do this is to buy the couple a bottle of fine wine or aged scotch engraved or labeled with their names and the wedding date, coupled with instructions to enjoy on their first, fifth, or tenth wedding anniversary. Another gift in this theme is to commission a portrait of the two of them. Select a portrait artist and send them photographs of the couple, both posed and candid. Your wedding couple will enjoy the resulting painting for years to come.
4. The gift of an original
This is a category you don’t want to go crazy with, but which can produce really nice gifts if done right. The wedding couple probably doesn’t want a set of handmade macrame plant holders, but a carefully-selected handmade, antique, or heirloom can be an excellent wedding gift. These gifts will truly show that you have put thought into the gift and will remind the couple of you whenever they see it. Works of art, a wedding ring quilt, handmade wooden furniture, and antique silver all fall into this category.
5. The gift of a honeymoon
Find out if the wedding couple has registered at a honeymoon registry. This is a service that allows guests to gift the couple with dollars toward a vacation or toward specific items they might enjoy on a honeymoon, such as dinner, massages, drinks, or adventures. These gifts are truly memorable because they allow the couple to make the kinds of memories together they may never have a chance at again.
Sometimes life prevents us from being present to witness the marriage of those we care about. Sending a gift from one of these categories, along with a personal message of care and well wishes, will show the wedding couple how much they mean to you and contribute to the gift of their togetherness for many years to come.

The first thing that needs to be considered when planning the ultimate wedding is how much time you will give yourself for the planning. In essence; this means what day that you will set the date of the wedding.

If you are looking for one year anniversary gifts, you have a choice between the modern and traditional gift ideas. Other people want to have unique one year anniversary gifts or gifts that are personalized.
The most recommended one year anniversary gifts are those with clock or paper. Those people who want to give traditional gifts for their first anniversary usually opt for paper gifts. There are a lot of gift ideas that represent paper such as pictures, photo albums, magazine or book subscriptions, real plants or trees or embossed paper sets.
Most women tend to buy concert tickets for their men while others think of funny gifts such as toilet paper, still keeping the traditional first anniversary gift.
Another suggestion for one year anniversary gifts is clocks, especially if you want a modern touch to your gift. You can choose from a wide range of clock styles and designs such as wall clocks, mantel clocks and watches for one year anniversary gifts. There are married couples that buy each other watches and include engraved romantic messages. Others even choose broadening their version of this modern gift idea and include the gift of time such as a weekend getaway, a romantic date or a simple romantic dinner at home.
If you and your partner are looking for one year anniversary gifts, you can choose special gifts yourselves by checking with your wedding registry. There are a lot of shops that store registries online. Just check with the wedding registry and look for one year anniversary such as household appliances, chinaware and crystal gifts.
Wedding registries also provide ideas for the right anniversary gifts for the couple. For instance, if you want to purchase the couple a blanket, you can check the wedding registry in order to know the kind of blanket they want as well as the right size. If you are considering a bathroom towel set, you can get the preferred anniversary gift and the colors that best fit the tastes of the couples by checking the wedding registry.
Pictures also make wonderful personalized anniversary present especially to those couples that were not able to afford a full wedding canvas portrait or photo album. If you are the one who is looking for a special first anniversary gift for your partner, you can visit your photographer for negatives of your wedding and create a canvas portrait or album and give it to your partner as a first anniversary gift.
You can also give personalized one year anniversary gifts such as engraved picture frames. You can put together special photographs of both of you, your family members and friends and frame them with your engraved names. There are some shops that sell picture frames with engraved romantic messages for your first anniversary.
With the many choices for one year anniversary gifts, you can easily get something traditional or modern for your spouse or your couple friends. Clocks and paper are the most popular first anniversary gifts but you can still be creative and make your own interpretation. It is recommended to go online in order to get a lot of suggestions and ideas for first anniversary gifts.

5 Gifts You Can Give That Won’t Be “Regifted”

Regifting is becoming more popular and more accepted these days. It is good for the environment, cuts down on clutter, and keeps the gift receivers happy. But if you are the one doing the giving, you usually hope that your gift won’t be regifted or returned. How to keep your gift out of the regift pile? Here are five gifts that won’t be regifted.
1. Money
Money is the quintessential wedding gift. It’s pretty, it smells good, and it is the key to unlocking any of one’s desires. People getting married are often saving for big purchases. They may have enough of the commonly-given household gifts, but they may need to buy a house to put them in. Or, the gifts they want, possibly movies or furniture, might be inappropriate to ask for in a registry or wish list. Giving the gift of money gives people a strong financial foundation and it allows them to purchase exactly the things they need.
2. A large gift from their registry or wish list
People may get a little crazy and register for just about anything for their wish list or registry. It can be difficult to figure out what gifts they want the most. First, pay attention to the place in the registry that tells you how many of an item the couple wants and how many have been purchased. This is not a fool-proof way to ensure you won’t get a duplicate; guests are free to buy gifts from a non-registry store, for instance, but it is a good safeguard. Next, look at the larger or more expensive gifts on the registry. Purchasing one of these makes it very unlikely they will get duplicates, and they certainly wouldn’t want to regift something that dear.
3. Honeymoon registry
This is a little like giving money in that it is an intangible gift. It is a very special one, though. For many couples, the honeymoon is the only chance they get to have an all-out vacation before life and family get in the way. Many couples can’t afford a honeymoon these days. Putting money toward a honeymoon package gives them a chance to have a vacation they otherwise may not be able to afford. A gift toward a honeymoon is certainly not regiftable and you can often choose to buy certain amenities, such as airfare, dinner, or a massage.
4. An heirloom
This isn’t a foolproof gift, so don’t go overboard with this one. Take the bridal couple’s tastes into account. Remember that just because you like something, doesn’t mean they will. Tasteful heirlooms are: wedding ring quilts, family silver or china, antique furniture, and jewelry. Heirlooms inappropriate as wedding gifts are: macrame, crocheted afghans, knick knacks, and handmade baby clothes (hold your horses, we’re not there yet!). Remember that just because something is handmade or old, doesn’t make it an heirloom.
5. A big ticket item
Buy someone a house, car, or Recreational Vehicle, and you can be pretty sure they won’t regift it. If you have the means and are amenable to this option, get a feel for what the couple is looking for. It is a good decision to give the couple a letter showing your intent to purchase them a house and then let them choose the house they desire. That will make sure they’ll get exactly what they need.
If you are concerned with giving someone a gift that they will enjoy, it is appropriate to ask them what they want. Tell them how important they are to you and let them know you want to get the gift right. Your earnest attitude and desire to please is a gift in itself, one that will tell them how much you care. That is as good a gift as any tangible present, any day.

What is a traditional British wedding? No doubt for many inhabitants of these islands, the standard wedding will somehow involve a church, swanky cars, some hired penguin suits, a teary mother and a tiered fruit cake. It’s amazing how vivid this imagery remains despite much of it no longer having a place in the modern wedding experience – in fact church ceremonies account for only about a third of all UK weddings. A blend of multiculturalism, a growing informality and a reduction in the role of the church have played their parts; but the result is a dazzling array of options for the open-minded couple.
Bells and choirboys
This is the default wedding, if you like. The bride and groom wake up in different houses, the bride gets done up, assisted by the mother and bridesmaids, the groom goes to the pub, the best man loses the ring, the father of the bride gets all philosophical and the clans sit on opposite flanks of the church. Inevitably the church wedding will be a religious affair, with hymns, prayers and vows, and then it’s off to the reception for speeches and dinner, and then everyone prepares for the evening do.
The registry office
Here the couple will make their vows in public but the religious aspects are stripped away. It’s all legal, official and often informal and takes place in a council building … but is no less romantic for it. This kind of marriage is not only the preserve of the non-religious; some churches refuse to marry divorcees, no matter how religious they are. And nor are they for the down at heel or shotgun weddings – don’t forget that Charles and Camilla tied the knot in a registry office.
All-in-one
Now that all sorts of venues can apply for the right to hold weddings, hotels and country clubs have been quick to get in on the act. Hotels are particularly popular because they offer all-day packages that include the wedding, the reception and the evening function all in one place. And guests coming from all over the world can usually get a discounted room too, which might mean more expensive wedding presents! (But don’t count on it.) There’s also no need for limos and umbrellas as everything is under one roof.
The civil ceremony
Another change in the law has allowed for same-sex marriages to take place. This will almost certainly take place in the registry office or another licensed venue, but other than that it’s exactly the same as a traditional wedding – two people declaring their love for each other in public.
The themed wedding
And then there are the weddings that really exercise the couple’s imagination or indulge their fantasies. A favourite is the medieval or Robin Hood wedding, where damsels, knights, knaves and peasants come together for a truly memorable wedding. Everyone dresses up, there will probably be a hog roast and traditional English music, and a good time is had by all. History and fantasy are equally plundered with wedding themes including baroque, 18th century ball, Wild West saloon, skydiving, Roman, biker, Lord of the Rings … or whatever else takes their fancy.
Get away from it all
Of course, not everyone wants to take their chances with the British weather, which is why many people opt to start their honeymoon early and get married abroad. So don’t be surprised to be invited to a genuine Las Vegas wedding or to see the couple exchanging vows on a tropical beach or on a cruise liner.
So although we all probably have an idea of what a traditional wedding is, knots are being tied in all manner of ways, some wacky, some practical. Some traditions are still part of the modern wedding, but others have fallen by the wayside. The only constant is that the newlyweds like nothing better than to have loads of lovely wedding gifts to open; Better still, if they’re unique and personalised wedding gifts that come with a smile!

Tips for Shopping for a Newborn Baby Gift
Whether it is for you or a friend or relative, there will likely come a time when you will need to choose newborn baby gifts. There are many choices for someone looking for presents for infants. There are a variety of super ideas for creating ideal newborn baby gifts that nurture a child’s developmental growth.
An option that is always a good choice is the newborn baby gift basket. This choice is very popular as it gives the sender a variety of things to give as a gift. You might even say it is a way for giving quantity over quality. Giving gift baskets as presents for babies has become more popular over the past decade and they are continuing to grace baby showers and maternity hospital rooms across the country.
Every newborn baby gift basket can be as unique as you want it to be. Some people choose to design their own newborn baby gifts around the concept of a gift basket. One example is to make a beautiful present out of a basket purchased from a local craft store. Fill it with items that are on the couples gift registry.
Personalized items are another popular trend. These gifts are created with the specific newborn in mind. There is one drawback to making it too personalized if the gender of the baby is not known prior to being born. But it is possible to create semi-personalized presents if you do not have the child’s name ahead of time by going with general terms like “baby”, “boy” or “girl”.
The majority of people do like personalized newborn baby gifts though. They are a sentimental reminder of one’s special day. When the name is not know, however, gift givers have been known to deliver an un-personalized gift only to make it personalized after the birth. This usually makes things easier for everyone. In any case, such a sentimental gift will be cherished for many years to come.
Gift ideas are sometimes hard to come up with on your own. Perhaps a Humminbird 383c GPS could brighten someone’s holiday or birthday, for example. There are other gift ideas at Holiday Gift Buddy.
Baby Clothes: A Perfect Baby Shower Gift?
Shopping for baby clothes and accessories can be so much fun, especially when you are shopping for a baby shower gift for someone you love!
Baby clothes make great gifts for new parents.
Baby clothing from boutiques are very popular gifts.
Many even have gift registries for expectant parents.
Most larger towns and cities have these specialty boutiques, but these can also be found in quaint smaller towns, too.
The nice thing about boutique clothing as a baby shower gift is that the parents might not want to spend the extra money on clothing for the baby with all the other expenses they will have.
Try to pick out something unique.
Most parents get plenty of onesies and sleepers!
When in doubt as to what to buy or what size, stick with dresses for girls and overalls for boys.
Because I had big babies, most newborn clothing didn’t fit my children.
I suggest buying size 3 or 6 months, keeping in mind many children wear the next size up from their age.
For example, a 3 month old might wear a size 6 months.
Remember to think about what season it will be when purchasing bigger sizes.
A nice long sleeved outfit won’t be used if it would fit the baby in the summer.
Shopping online for baby clothes can get you some really good deals without the frustrations of being at the mall.
You’re also more likely to get a unique gift online.
Shop around for special promotions and free shipping.
I like to use Ebates whenever I shop online and get a rebate on every purchase.
Internet shopping is perfect if you can’t attend the shower.
Most stores with registries make ordering simple.
They can, in just a few clicks, have your order shipped directly to the new parents’ house.
Baby sleepers and gowns are the most popular baby shower gifts.
While necessary, try pairing them with another more unique gift like an embroidered burp cloth, blanket or diaper bag.
Tiny baby slippers always get oooh’s and aaah’s at a shower.
To make a more substantial gift, add a cute little hat and some socks.
Infant clothing is almost always a gift parents will get lots of use out of.
When possible, always include a gift receipt just in case there was a duplicate gift or if the baby’s gender turns out to be different than expected!
Baby clothing can be expensive and fancy or simple and inexpensive.
Either way, parents will appreciate the thoughtful and useful gift for their little one.
Summary
If getting the most use out of the clothes you buy for your child is important to you, then the seven tips in this article should help you accomplish this.
Take these ideas with you the next time you go baby clothes shopping.
You’ll feel good about the clothes you buy for your baby and the money you’re going to save.

Shopping for Suitable Baby Shower Gifts
Baby shower gift shopping is great fun and everything is so tiny and cute that you just want to buy everything in sight. But how do you know what the expectant mother needs or wants? Well, one answer of course is simply to ask, but a better idea would be to ask the person organizing the shower so that the mother-to-be can really be surprised when it comes to opening the gifts. Today however there is an even simpler way of doing things.
The majority of expectant mothers nowadays register their gift preferences at a store that offers a baby shower registry service. After spending an afternoon with a gift consultant selecting the items that she would like to have for her baby, the store will add the list to the store’s gift registry computer so that guests simply need to go to the store’s website and enter the mother’s name, and perhaps the date of the baby shower, and can then print out a shopping list.
It is then a simple matter of taking the shopping list to the baby department and looking for the items on the list. To make things even easier the price for each gift is frequently included on the shopping list so that guests who want to spend a specific amount of money can simply run down the list and select those gifts that fall within their budget.
In addition to being a great help for guests, purchasing from the gift registry prevents the duplication of gifts as items are removed from the list as soon as they are purchased. It also ensures that the mother-to-be gets just what she needs and wants.
Now, while having a shopping list of baby gifts certainly makes shopping much easier, there are still quite a few people who simply do not like to shop this way and believe that it makes for a somewhat impersonal experience. These people prefer to shop without the assistance of a list and to choose something which they feel is particularly appropriate for the mother-to-be. This approach is also fine and is a perfect option for guests who prefer to express themselves through their own shopping choices.
One other thing which many stores will provide is the ability to make baby gifts even more special with the addition of personalized engraving. This is especially popular when the baby shower is being held after the birth of the baby because guests will have the baby’s details including the baby’s full name, birth date, weight and height.
One final point to remember is that the person who is hosting the baby shower does not normally give the mother-to-be a gift as the bridal shower itself is considered to be her gift. This is very reasonable because, as anyone who has ever hosted a baby shower will know, this can be a very elaborate and expensive gift.
However you decide to organize your baby shower gift buying the secret is to make things as simple as you can for your guests, while at the same time allowing them considerable freedom of choice, and leaving the mother-to-be with plenty of surprises on the day of the event.
